Past History

Headway Victoria Bendigo Regional Group began sometime around 1985.

It was incorporated on the 24th November, 1987 as Headway Bendigo - Central Victorian Association for the Head Injured.

It was disbanded around 1993

Reformed, without knowledge of the existence of the previous group, on the 18th March, 2001 as the Loddon-Mallee ABI Support Group with the name changed to Headway Bendigo, ABI Support Group the following year.


Today:

The purpose of the support group is to learn more about brain injury and available services by meeting with others who are facing or have faced similar challenges. The essential elements of the support group have been to:
Gather information
Share common needs and strengths
Provide a place to meet new friends and find new connections in the community
Provide an opportunity to socialize
Provide an environment where positive and negative views can be expressed without being judged
Increase knowledge and understanding of the problems and effects of ABI within the wider community
